Neville Brand was a famous American actor who was born on 13th August 1920 in Griswold, United States. He was one of the seven children of the couple, Helen and Leo. Following the high school education, Neville put his life for raising his family from poverty and worked as a shoe salesman and waiter.
In 1939, he joined Illinois Army National Guard and came in the listing for his weight of 169 pounds and six feet height. During the Second World War, he was active in US Armed forces for 9 months and 19 days. In 1945, Brand was severely injured by a bullet shot on his upper arm and discontinued from the service. Neville Brandreceived decorations for his service from American Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory medal, Silver Star, European African Middle East Medal, American Campaign Medal, Compact Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
He entered acting with his first role as ‘Chester’ in D.O.A. His villain character in the movie “Love Me Tender” who killed the role acted by Elvis Presley is well known which made him a popular star. He was the first actor to depict Butch Cassidy for the movie “Three Outlaws”. Apart from the villain roles, he also played a romantic lead with the actor Jan Sterling in the film “Return from the sea”. He is also known for his roles in the TV shows Bonanza, The Untouchables and in the films “Tora! Tora! Tora!” and “The Georgia Raft Story”. His other works include cowboy roles in “The Virginain”, Reese Bennet in ‘Laredo’ and as a coward hero in “the Encounter”.
Neville Brand has played more than hundred roles in TV shows and movies. His personal life was complicated that he married 3 times. He divorced Jean Enfield in 1955 and Laura Rae Araujo in 1969. Ramona was Brand’s third wife. He passed away in 1992 when he was under the treatment of emphysema in Sutter General Hospital.
